BOATS

The Club sees many different types of boat on the water.

There are graceful sail boats and galleons, busy live steam powered launches, cruisers, tugs and paddle steamers.

We do allow electric powered models, even submarines, but not fast electric or I.C powered

TRAINS

Calling all railway minded members of the club.  It is obvious to the committee that despite the recent investment in developing the railway into possibly the best club track in the area it remains very much underused.

It has been suggested that not being able to take cars to steaming bays and off loading models and service kit was a problem. Whilst we have asked members not to drive to the trackside when the grass is pretty wet because the water lays in the accessible area on the reservoir side, and it would not be a good place to get stuck if you were on your own. The grass is now cut in this area which will ease the risk. Vehicles should not be taken along the pond bank at any time

The track is available for any trains of whatever scale that will run on either 32mm or 45mm gauge track under their own power i.e. steam or battery. There is ample steam up space, and if you use radio control you will need to make sure that you do not clash frequency with other users either on the track or on the pond.

There is a run of approximately 400 feet in either gauge for you to test or run from the smallest to the largest, and the slowest to the fastest. Why not come down at anytime and see for yourself, bring a train and have some fun. If you haven’t got a train why not get one either ready to run or kit build .These run from about £50 to around £5000 for a top of the range Aster live steam Duchess.

Why not trade in a boat for a train, then you won’t be worried about the wind, most of the boilers are exempt from certification, and gas and steam controls are easily checked and adjusted. So why not become a “puffer nutter” as well as a boatman?
